Able Up Iowa helps people of all abilities become independent by providing solutions to financial needs and empowering them to achieve their financial goals.

Why Able Up Iowa?

Assistive technology can get very expensive, and many items are not covered by insurance. This often leaves low-income Iowans with disabilities without the equipment or accommodations they need to live independently.

1993

This led a dedicated team from Iowa Program for Assistive Technology (IPAT) to establish Able Up Iowa in 1993.

Outreach and Growth

In the following years, Able Up Iowa was able to serve thousands of individuals from across the state, reaching 55 of Iowa’s 99 counties.However, we knew that in order to serve as many Iowans as possible, we needed to continue evolving our programs.

2019

In 2019, Able Up Iowa collaborated with community experts and partners from across the state to strategically develop plans for growth.

Vision into Action

After receiving a substantial grant in 2020, Able Up Iowa was able to put the program enhancements envisioned in 2019 into action.

2020

In August 2020, Able Up Iowa launched the Financial Solutions and Financial Empowerment programs. These programs work hand in hand to provide Iowans with long-term financial support.

Our Roots Run Deep

Since the beginnings of Able Up Iowa, every year has brought new opportunities for enrichment. However, one thing will always stay the same: Able Up Iowa is unwaveringly dedicated to providing Iowans of all abilities with our very best financial care and support.

We believe every Iowan deserves the opportunity to to live independently.
